Body Cupping Massage: What to Expect and Choosing 30 or 60 Minutes

Curious about the cups, the sensation or the marks? Body Cupping Massage at NOVO Therapy combines dry cupping with traditional hands-on massage. Here is a practical guide to your first appointment in Glasgow Southside.

What does body cupping feel like?

A cup creates gentle suction against the skin, giving a lifting or pulling sensation that feels different from the pressure of hands-on massage. Moving cupping glides over a prepared area; stationary cupping leaves a cup in one suitable place for a short period. Both techniques may be used during your session, alongside massage.

You do not need to choose a technique in advance. Your consultation, preferences and comfort guide the approach. Suction can be adjusted and cups removed at any time. Let NOVO Therapy know how it feels throughout your treatment.

Should you book 30 or 60 minutes?

  • 30-minute Focused Body Cupping Massage — £45. A focused session for a suitable area or a small number of areas agreed during consultation.
  • 60-minute Full Body Cupping Massage — £70. A more comprehensive session covering suitable areas according to your preferences, consultation and time available. It does not mean every area will be cupped.

If you are unsure which length to choose, get in touch before booking. You can also compare the options on the Body Cupping Massage treatment page.

Your first appointment

There is time to discuss what you would like from the session, your health history and any areas you prefer to avoid. Treatment is personalised, with appropriate draping and regular comfort checks. Hands-on massage and cupping are combined where suitable; your consent remains part of the conversation throughout.

Will cupping leave marks?

Temporary circular marks can occur. Their appearance and how long they last vary, so consider the timing if you have an event or would prefer an area to remain unmarked. Marks are not evidence of toxins being removed or a measure of how effective a session has been.

Before and after your session

Complete your consultation form and mention medicines, skin conditions, recent procedures or changes in your health. Cupping is not suitable for everyone, and some areas or techniques may need to be avoided. Ask about suitability before booking if you are uncertain.

Arrive comfortably hydrated and avoid a heavy meal immediately beforehand. After your appointment, follow the individual aftercare advice given, keep any marked skin comfortable and protected, and allow yourself time to see how you feel. There is no need for a “detox” routine. Seek appropriate medical advice for unexpected or worsening symptoms.
